It wasn’t hard to spot him in the crowd it was like approaching the Rocky Mountains from across the plains. In other words you couldn’t miss him from anywhere in the room.

I’ve always made it a policy to make friends with men of such size knowing that it could only have positive results. So I took my place in the crowd behind him but I noticed as the line moved forward his back was coming closer to my position in line. Finally he was right in front of me but moving backwards until I stopped him and said: “Why don’t we just get it over with? It’s just a little needle.” His reply was priceless as I heard this mountain speak saying; “I’d rather face a big knife.” I assured him as an old veteran to a younger veteran that I’d be with him all the way and so we took the next two chairs. I’m certain that we looked like Santa Clause and Paul Bunyan sitting there as Count Lab Tech drew our blood. We shook hands and parted brothers as we had faced the V.A. Medical Center’s lab together. Isn’t it strange that we fear the tiniest things in life even when we are willing to face the greatest obstacles? It’s no different in the home buying process. It is the countless details and numberless possible problems that cause many people to opt out of the joy of home ownership completely. A good REALTOR® can ease that tension and remove some of the fear. They do it not because there is a large S on their underwear but because they’ve been trained and experienced the process enough times to know how things will work out in the end. So what do you say we take the next two chairs and become a home owner? I almost forgot. As I was leaving the lab waiting room an individual approached me and said: “I was getting ready to say something to that young man but you beat me to it.” There will always be those around to tell us what should or shouldn’t be done. To brag about what they should, could, or might have done if something had been different. Ignore them and live the American Dream?
